On Thursday, authorities in Greece declared a state of emergency for the island of Santorini following a series of earthquakes, including one with a magnitude of 5.2.
The declaration was to remain in effect until March 3.
Although by Thursday no damage to structures had been reported on the island, they said they were bracing for larger impacts. Hospital employees remained “on standby.”
According to BBC, over 11,000 residents evacuated the island.
