Earlier this month was the first phase of the 2024 general elections in India. This one is the biggest in the world so far with over 900 million registered voters!
Modi and the BJP, a right-wing party have been in power since 2014 and it looks like it will stay like that. The BJP along with its national alliance NDA (National Democratic Alliance) seem confident they’ll win, with their campaign being to cross 400 out of 543 seats in the Parliament’s lower house, The Lok Sabha or Council of the people
Meanwhile on the other side, the is the INC also known as the Congress party with its alliance, INDIA (Indian National Devolpmental Inclusive Alliance) led by Mallikarjun Kharge. After its defeat in the 2019 election, Congress have attempted to organize a united front against the BJP?
Meanwhile there is also the third parties, mainly regional parties such as the BSP in Uttar Pradesh, BJD in Odisha and YSR Congress in Andhra Pradesh.
