On Monday, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) said that people were detained for attempting to incite riots in the capital, Kyiv, to replace the military and civilian leadership of Ukraine. They said that the group had “hoped to undermine the socio-political situation inside Ukraine, which would have played in Russia’s hands.” It remains unknown if the people detained were connected to Russia.
They also reported to have found four suspects, who “were served suspicion notices” for “calling for violent change and overthrow of the constitutional order of Ukraine.” If found guilty, the suspects could be sentenced to ten years in prison.
