As of 2:53 p.m. EDT (18:53 UTC), Wednesday afternoon, this video has 19,099,385 views. During the same five-day period, “Baby Shark”, which has been YouTube’s most watched video since November 2020, has added 25.5 million views to its total, or 5.1 million views per day. We need to pick up the pace.
Common Mistake Regarding YouTube Views (Read Carefully): On YouTube, as you know, the number of views (sometimes called the view count) represents how popular your video is, specifically, how many people have seen the video. However, like many other public metrics, view counts can easily be manipulated. Some manipulation happens unintentionally, and some manipulation is done on purpose by people who attempt to “game the system.” To combat this, YouTube’s algorithm has a secret formula in place to determine which views are legitimate, which views aren’t, and discard invalid views. For a view to register, you must watch at least 15-30 seconds of the video (the exact requirement varies), but the longer the view, the better, as longer views increase the “watch time”, another metric that the algorithm uses to measure audience interest. By increasing the average view duration (AVD), we, Ariana Grande fans, can increase the likelihood of this video being recommended to others by the algorithm. DO NOT refresh the page. If you repeatedly refresh the page, the views will register as illegitimate and not be included in the view count. Instead, watch the video from start to end, and if you love it, hit the “Replay” button to listen to the song again. Then, share it with your friends!
