The salvadorian authorities confirmed that 9 people, including the Salvadorian Police Chief Mauricio Arriaza Chicas, have died in a Helicopter crash.

The president of El Salvador Nayib Bukele, has declared 3 days of mourning in El Salvador.

The aircraft was transporting the Hondurian Manuel Coto, which was captured in the Nicaragua border on august 8, 2024. When the aircraft departed from cholulteca, all seemed normal until the aircraft crashed minutes after takeoff, without survivors.

One of the witnesses, said that he and his 7 year old son saw the aircraft going down and that there was no hope someone would survive, his son told him “Dad, I see that an helicopter is flying too low” though the climate was cloudy, he could saw the low altitude of the helicopter.

The victims of the crash were Alexis Alberto Quijano, Douglas Omar García Funes, Abel Antonio Arévalo, Rómulo Pompilio Romero Torres, Mauricio Arriaza Chicas, Gerson Ricardo Batres Lucero, David Cruz Guevara, Manuel Coto Barrientos and Jonathan Alexander Raymundo Morán.
