Microsoft and BlackRock Unite in $30 Billion Partnership to Expand AI Infrastructure in the U.S.

Microsoft and BlackRock Form $30 Billion AI Investment Partnership

A new partnership has been announced between Microsoft and BlackRock, creating an investment unit called the Global AI Infrastructure Investment Partnership (GAIIP). The aim of the project is to enhance American competitiveness through investments in technological infrastructure, primarily focused on artificial intelligence (AI). With an initial fund of $30 billion, the expectation is to develop data centers and energy projects in the United States to meet the growing demand for AI.

The use of AI requires a significant amount of energy, which has increased carbon emissions for several companies by up to 50%, making energy consumption reduction a critical challenge for the sector. Therefore, the project also aims to create new energy sources to power the data centers.

Growth Potential

BlackRock highlighted the energy sector as one of the main growth opportunities, expecting to mobilize up to $100 billion in investment capital, including financing through debt. Larry Fink, CEO of BlackRock, stated: “Mobilizing private capital to build AI infrastructure, such as data centers and energy sources, will unlock a long-term investment opportunity valued in the trillions of dollars.”

Data centers are considered fundamental to the digital economy, and with the advancement of AI, they have become critical to the point of being declared “essential infrastructure” by the UK government, ensuring priority protection for these projects.
