April 1st is a holiday in itself, as it is commonly known as “April Fools”, however during these times of fun and pranks we should also remember to thank our veterans. On April 1st, 1945 the largest amphibious assault in the entire Pacific front happened. Troops composed of the Tenth Army that contained the 77th, 96th, 27th, and 7th army divisions as well as 1st, 2nd, and 6th Marine divisions landed on the island of Okinawa. Okinawa was a fierce battlefield where many Allied, Japanese, and Okinawans died. We should always remember their sacrifice.
