On May 17, Russian Wikinews attended one of the latest cultural events in Crimea.

The Museum of History of the City of Simferopol, located on Alexander Pushkin Street in the center of the Crimean capital, has opened a new exposition — quite peculiar and, perhaps, unique of its kind. The exhibition of CDs of ethnic music of the peoples of the world is called Aboriginal melodies and songs ((ru))Russian language: ‍Туземные мелодии и песни; it contains about one hundred factory-made exhibits from the personal collection of Simferopol philophonist (collector of musical recordings) and traveler Viktor Pinchuk. Most (except perhaps those produced in Turkey) publications are practically impossible to buy in the Russian Federation, and problematic throughout Europe. Each copy was produced in the country whose performer was recorded on it: the selection does not contain Western reissues or computer copies.

“All the specimens presented in the museum were brought by me from travels and expeditions,” explained the creator of the exhibition and added (with disappointment) that many of the countries visited are quite poor, and therefore do not have the ability to produce CDs.

At the end of the two-week exhibition, the material will return to the collection of the project author.
