Bomb attacks have killed at least eighteen people in town of Gwoza, in Borno state of Nigeria. Over 40 people have been reported injured and some sources claim that there have been almost 30 fatalities. On Saturday, attacks targeted a funeral, a wedding, and a hospital. The bombs are suspected to have been detonated by female suicide bombers. Borno State police reported that the wedding attack was carried out by a woman with a baby on her back.

Gwoza was taken over by jihadist group Boko Haram in 2014, and whilst losing control of the town to Nigerian army in 2015, it has continued to attack the town. It has been known to use female suicide bombers in the past. The group has not officially claimed responsibility for the attack. Boko Haram’s actions have caused the death of over 40 thousand and displacement of over million people in Nigeria.
