From Wikinews, the free news source you can write!
The validity of this article as a news story is, as written, disputed. Wikinews does not publish reports on events that are not sufficiently recent. For synthesis, new details must have come to light within the past five to seven days, and the news event itself must have happened within ten days. Unless sources can be found and a news event chosen to bring this article into compliance with those requirements, the article may be deleted. If any new details from the last five to seven days are newsworthy in their own right then an article could be written with these updates as the actual news event. Exceptions are possible where original reporting adds significant new and newsworthy information to the article.
Please try to resolve objections on the discussion page, or move the article to Wikipedia or another sister project where it may be more relevant. |

On Monday, the nominees for the 82nd annual Golden Globe Awards were announced by Mindy Kaling and Morris Chestnut at a live press conference event taking place at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California, United States.[1][2]
Comedian Nikki Glaser was announced to have been selected to host the event, which was scheduled to air live on Sunday, January 5, at 8 p.m. ET on CBS and Paramount+.[3] The announcement made Glaser the first woman to be selected to solo host the event in its history.
The 2024 Netflix musical crime-thriller film Emilia Pérez broke the record for the most Golden Globe nominations for a comedy or musical film, securing ten of them. The 2023 film Barbie and the 1972 film Cabaret were tied for the previous record in these categories, each earning nine nominations. Some of the awards that Emilia Perez has been nominated for include “Best Picture” for a musical or comedy and “Best Picture” for a non-English film. The film also earned acting nominations for its actresses Karla Sofía Gascón and Selena Gomez. [4][5]
Other contenders for awards included The Brutalist, with seven nominations, Conclave with six, and Anora and The Substance both with five. Additionally, the films Wicked, A Real Pain, Challengers and The Wild Robot each received four nominations.[6]
