A 17-year-old girl has succumbed to her injuries after a fatal attack by a shark off Bribie Island. At 4:45PM, wile swimming near Woorim Beach on Bribie Island, she had been bitten by a shark and subsequently faced injuries in her upper body. According to police, she died soon after at 5:00PM.
When the attack occurred, Surf Life Saving Queensland officers were present at Woorim Beach, and helped paramedics find and treat the girl. A report has been set up for the coroner by police. The mayor of the City of Moreton Bay, Peter Flannery, commented that “it would be a difficult time for the tight knit Bribie Island community.”
